KONY 2012

Before FYS, Kony came to me attention from a few of my classmates who sent an all school email.  The email contained the video and the information on how to donate to help the cause.  I did not share it because by the time I read the email everyone I knew was aware of the cause.  I did not watch the video until the last FYS class we had.  I saw how long it was and just decided to read up on it and get the facts.  The video was a well put together video.  While watching the video I did feel a little bit inspired to help out, but after the video I went back and read up on Jason and his cause.  After reading some articles and re-watching the video, I gained a sense of a charity that was corrupt.  I think that the charity should be audited and the reports of where the money was spent should be put out for the public to see.  Using Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube are great ways to get a charity known and make people aware of what the cause stands for, but there is a down side.  The down side is your credibility takes a hit over these social media outlets.
